Product guide

Start with the workflow. Know the boundaries.

A concise guide to the current local plugin. Full documentation lives in the plugin repository.

Requirements

Claude Code and Python 3.10 or newer on macOS or Linux. The Python core uses the standard library. SpecStory is optional and needed for supported exports from other agents. Native collection on Windows is not supported in 0.2.0.

Setup → Collect → Review → Report

Setup creates the workspace and configures mode, people, sources, models and preferences. Collect sanitizes session copies. Review runs collectors and a judge, validates evidence and records a period. Report builds self-contained HTML. Team and course feedback must be approved before it reaches a participant.

Four primary skills

Use /retropair:setup, /retropair:collect, /retropair:review and /retropair:report. The convenient /retropair:retro shortcut is planned, not implemented. The Python entrypoint is scripts/rp.py; scripts/sr.py remains a compatibility shim.

Supported log sources

Claude Code JSONL is read directly. Other tools use supported SpecStory or manual Markdown exports. Folder sources and repositories of exported logs are also supported; git sources are available in team and course modes. Native Codex/Cursor session parsers and plugins are not implemented.

Reports with different audiences

The reviewer report contains evidence and drafts. The personal file contains only approved feedback and allowed fields. Group reports support coaching across participants without rankings. Use anonymized copies for demonstrations and never distribute reviewer reports as personal feedback.

Time, usage and assessment limits

Analysis consumes your configured model's usage. Log volume, model and effort determine cost and duration. Logs reveal only observable behavior, and model judgments can be wrong: inspect the evidence and review drafts. This is coaching support, not a general competence assessment.

Coming from SessionRetro?

The 0.2.0 rebrand includes an explicit migration preview and a verified atomic workspace move. Existing .retropair/ and .sessionretro/ paths together are a conflict, not an invitation to overwrite. Stop the old installation and follow the migration guide supplied with the plugin before setup.
